​The 1st SMBC Bonsai Exhibit and Suiseki Competition was held last July 26-28 at SM Aura Premiere’s Atrium Level 3. The successful event was hosted by Southern Manila Bonsai Club
 
The three-day exhibit started with a ribbon-cutting then a quick lecture on the art of Suiseki appreciation by NSSP president Anthony Gedang. This was followed by awarding of the winners of the Suiseki Competition and the handing of certificates by Master Yen to the participants of his Bonsai master class.
 
The event was also grace by the beloved Bonsai and Suiseki enthusiast, Ms. Fely “Mama Bonsai” Gupit and PBSI president Mr. Bobby Gopiao

Sanib Pwersa: An Extraordinary Gathering of Cebu’s Finest Bonsai and Suiseki was held last July 5 to 7 at SM Seasisde City Cebu. The event was hosted by Philippine Bonsai Society Inc. and Natural Stone Society of the Philippines along with affiliates Cebu Bonsai Society and Cebu Suiseki Society.
 
The event allowed residents to witness the best that Cebu has to offer when it comes to Bonsai and Suiseki. Activities such as a Bonsai critique session, Bonsai workshop, and discussion on the basics of Suiseki further enhanced the knowledge and appreciation for both crafts.
 
The event was graced by PBSI president Bobby Gopiao and NSSP president Anthony Gedang.

Bonsai Fun in the Sun Competition and Exhibition at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Philippines

Bonsai Fun in the Sun is the part of the annual show of the Philippine Bonsai Society Incorporated. The exhibition opened its gates on May 12 at the Bonifacio Global City, Bonifacio High Street in Taguig City.

Special guests of honor include Sensei Ryugetsu Nakagawa, Senator Cynthia Villar, Mr. Joselito “Butch” Campos of Del Monte-Philippines, foreign personage, bonsai judges from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Around 100 bonsai plants are on display, some of them are several decades-old. Suiseki or natural stones are also on display. There are also some stalls which sells bonsai tools & materials.

The 90th Kokufu Bonsai Exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno Park, Tokyo. 

In order to display more traditional Japanese bonsai to the world, The 90th Kokufu Bonsai Exhibition is being held in two parts again this year. The first part was held on February 5-8, 2016 while the second part on February 10-13, 2016, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno Park, Tokyo. Then on February 9th, all the bonsai are removed replaced with new trees.

This exhibition had its beginnings in 1934 and took place 2 times a year in March and November. Count Matsudaira, who popularized shohin bonsai, was President of the Kokufu Bonsai Association who organized and sponsored the exhibition until 1964 when the organization dissolved and reorganized as the Nippon Bonsai Association.

Today, the Kokufu Bonsai Exhibition is organized and run by the Nippon Bonsai Association, but sponsored by the City of Tokyo, Ministry of Education and NHK TV.

Over 200 bonsai of most species and styles are displayed at the most prestigious bonsai exhibition in the world with the longest history, the Kokufu-ten.  Sponsored by the Nippon Bonsai Kyokai (The Nippon Bonsai Association).

 2015 Bonsai Clubs International Convention and Asian-Pacific Bonsai and Viewing Stone Convention & Exhibition, which was held in Guangzhou, China which is known as the ‘City of Flowers’.

This Bonsai convention is definitely a must both for long time enthusiasts as well as first timers. It was very nice to encounter so many other bonsai hobbyists from all around the world. About 1200 people took part of the convention.

2014 National Bonsai Exhibition in Rochester, New York

The exhibition not only features Bonsai, but also stones, pots, and a lot more that enthusiasts and casual viewers would enjoy viewing.

Numerous bonsai plants and stones from different parts of the world, as well as conversing with other hobbyists and those who have their prized bonsai and stones on display, shared techniques and felt their passion for their avocation.
